Learning Express Katy

Learning Express

Small Business Introduction

I would love to introduce you to Learning Express Katy! As a small business owner I am passionate about helping and supporting other small businesses. I love to collaborate and network, and I live by the term community over competition! Therefore, I will be featuring and promoting businesses I love in my blog!

Please kick things off with an introduction to yourself and Learning Express

My name is Meg Sides and I am from Greenville, SC but have lived in Houston for over 20 years. I have 4 children from 28 to 8 years old. We just adopted our daughter, Kara two weeks ago!

How long have you lived in Katy and how long has your Learning Express been up and running?

I have lived in Houston since 1997. The Learning Express of Katy started in 2006 and has moved location once in 2013.

What does Learning Express offer the community? What ages is it best for? And what are your hours?

We are a locally owned small business and we offer a huge variety of toys for all ages. We offer personal shopping, great customer service and free gift wrapping. We are open Monday – Saturday 10-7 and Sunday 11-6. Hours will be extended for the holidays.

Tell us a bit about you? Do you have kids, how many, and how old are they? Do you have pets?

I have 4 children
  • Christian (28) lives in Key West Florida and is a professional scuba diver.
  • Caroline (23) lives in Houston and graduated in May from the University of Arkansas. She currently manages the Learning Express store in Katy while I am managing the Town and Country store.
  • James (17) is a senior at Memorial High School and hopes to attend Clemson University next year.
  • Kara (8) is a second grader at Meadow wood Elementary in west Houston.

One thing that people would be surprised to know about you…

I think people would be surprised to know that I am interested in selling the store and plan to put an announcement out on social media this month. Would love to sell it to a customer who loves the store as much as I do.

What did you do before you worked in this business?

I was a director of childcare for local churches. I directed Spring Branch Presbyterian and First Baptist of The Woodlands for many years.

What are the future plans and goals for your business?

My plan is to sell the store to a customer who will continue to provide an amazing retail experience to the families of Katy.
