Small Business Introduction

I would love to introduce you to Fulshear Moms! As a small business owner I am passionate about helping and supporting other small businesses. I love to collaborate and network, and I live by the term community over competition! Therefore, I will be featuring and promoting businesses I love in my blog!

Please kick things off with an introduction to yourself and Fulshear Moms.

My name is Angela van Deursen and I run Fulshear Moms. Fulshear Moms started out as an Instagram account for me to blog about my house build. It quickly evolved into a community which led me to taking over two Facebook groups, and rebranding them to match the @fulshearmoms Instagram. We’ve grown exponentially over the last year and into a community I am really proud of. We offer monthly play dates, moms night out, and giveaways with local businesses, and exclusive discounts. The environment of all of our events is warm, and welcoming. There is room for you here.

How long have you lived in Fulshear and how long has Fulshear Moms been up and running?

Fulshear Moms will have it’s first birthday next month at Whiskey River West which is who we partner with for our Fulshear Moms Night Out! They are so good to us. We turn 1 on November 24th, and I really can’t believe it!

What does Fulshear Moms offer the community? What ages is it best for? And what are your hours?

Fulshear Moms offers a place for moms to get together, with kids and without. It highlights Fulshear as a community, and the fun that is to be had here. We partner with local businesses to offer exclusive discounts, and help people discover things they wouldn’t have normally. Our monthly playgroup is for all ages, and all are welcome. We are diving deeper into this community and excited to have our first Fulshear Moms Gumbo Team this year!

Tell us a bit about you? Do you have kids, how many, and how old are they? Do you have pets?

About me? Oh where do I start? I am a Christian, first. God is the absolute center of my life. Before anyone sees me, I want them to see Him first. I am a wife to a precious man who waited on me to get my head together for 10 years, and I am a mother to an almost three year old who is pure magic. I am on the leadership team for Merry Ministries a Bible Study here in Fort Bend that goes chronologically through the Bible, and Fort Bend YoungLives which ministers to teen moms and moms who are parenting in high school! I’m busy, all the time. I tend to operate from a place of Yes, and I like that about myself. I’ll talk your ear off, and I hope you like hugs. There is room for people at my table, always.

One thing that people would be surprised to know about you…

One thing people would be surprised to know about me is probably nothing. I’m an open book, all the time. What you see is what you get. There is no guessing game with me. I’d be terrible at poker.

What did you do before you managed Fulshear Moms?

I am a stay at home mom, but before that I worked for a medspa as a coordinator in the museum district. I love aesthetics. Botox, filler, lasers, vampire facials- yep that’s right, I let them take my blood and then Microneedle it back into my face and guess what? I glowed.

Let’s dig a little deeper into your story, has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you have had to overcome?

I am of the mindset that everybody has their junk. Some is louder than others, and some is more hidden but everyone has something that they either haven’t unpacked or have. Through therapy I’ve learned sometimes you have to put the box down and just walk away. I wouldn’t call some of the things I’ve been through easy, but I would say because of what I have been through I understand people and the world better and can look at things with a more empathetic lens.

What are the future plans and goals for Fulshear Moms?

My lips are sealed! Truth is, Fulshear Moms is constantly evolving, what started out with me blogging about my house build has turned into a full fledged growing community of awesome women, and I want to make them proud to be a Fulshear Mom. God has a plan for Fulshear Moms, and He is the absolute center of it.
