One of the most common questions I get from clients is: “What should I wear for my branding photo session?” Honestly, it’s a great question—because what you wear can totally change how your photos feel. These images are more than just pretty pictures; they represent your brand, your energy, and how people connect with you. So today, I’m breaking it all down to help you feel confident, look great, and show up as the best version of yourself on camera.

Before you even peek into your wardrobe, take a step back and think about your brand. Are you modern and minimal? Bold and fun? Warm and welcoming? Your clothing should reflect that vibe. For example:
This isn’t about dressing like someone else—it’s about aligning your outer look with your brand’s message.
If you’re tugging at a neckline or trying to keep pants from slipping down, it’s going to show. Choose outfits you can move in easily and that make you feel good. When you’re comfortable, you look more relaxed—and that’s exactly what we want in your branding photos.
Pro tip: Do a mirror test. Try your outfit on, move around, sit, stand, and raise your arms. If anything feels off or you’re adjusting constantly, it’s probably not the right fit.
Bringing multiple outfits gives us variety and helps us capture different sides of your brand. I usually recommend 2–3 looks:
Bonus points for layers—cardigans, jackets, scarves—they add dimension and can be swapped quickly for variety.
Stick to colors that look good on you and tie into your brand palette. Jewel tones, neutrals, and earth tones generally photograph really well. Bright whites and neons can be tricky—they can reflect light in odd ways or wash you out. That said, if white is part of your brand and it works for your skin tone, we can absolutely make it work!
Avoid super busy patterns, large logos, or anything that distracts from your face. We want the focus on YOU.
The small things matter more than you might think:
Also, think about accessories. Simple jewelry can add polish, but don’t overdo it. You want to look like the elevated version of your everyday self.
When you book a branding session with me, you’re not doing this alone. I’m always happy to look at outfit options ahead of time, hop on a planning call, or give advice based on the location and vibe we’re going for.
And hey—this is supposed to be fun. Getting branding photos taken should feel exciting, not stressful. So if you’re ever unsure, remember: when you feel good, you look good. Trust your gut, keep it simple, and wear what makes you feel like a rockstar.
